|
The 2009 Florida AAU Tae Kwon Do qualifier drew 580 Athletes. Kissimmee, Fl hosted the 2009 Tae Kwon Do championships on April 24,25. Athletes from all over the state competed to get a spot in the top 8 of their division to be eligible to qualify for nationals June 29 - July 4 in Ft. Lauderdale. National ranked athletes and National AAU team members were on hand to not only compete but to also officiate. Elite coaches brought their teams to compete, proving once again Florida has the top competitors in the country, many of the fights were on a world class level. Referees from Florida, Georgia and Tennessee worked all day to ensure fair competition. The medics from Bare Essentials are the best in the country, they were flawless in their treatment of athletes, (the injured competitor returned later in the day and was fine !). Macho and fine designs had great set ups and provided the event with quality products and service. Thank you all for you participation at this years event. Without the dedicated volunteers and staff this event wouldn't be possible, thank you for making this happen. | Coaches Online Certification Course | |

Available beginning September 2, 2008
Convenient Online Training Online Coaches training and certification is required annually in order to coach at any AAU Tae Kwon Do event. This certification is for the current competition year only. Certification or Recertification is required each year. This new online training is replacing attendance at Officials/Coaches clinics that was required in years past. No one will be allowed to coach without successfully completing this online training. Coaches Certification Card Anyone that will be 14 or older on 8/31 of the competition year may Coach at AAU Tae Kwon Do events. The cost of the Coaches' Training and Certification is $50. This fee must be paid during the registration process that precedes the beginning of the Coaches' Online Certification. Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover will be accepted. The coaches' certification card will be issued immediately upon completing the Coaches Online Certification. Officials' Clinic Officials will be required to attend an annual Officials' Clinic. The Officials' clinic fee is $35. Those wishing to both coach and officiate must take the Online Coaches Course as well as attend the Officials' Clinic. The $35 Officials' Clinic fee will be waved for those that first take the Online Coaches' Course. To have the fee waved, bring a copy of the Coaches Certification to the Officials Clinic. | At the yearly AAU club meeting on June 15 th in Mt.Dora,Fl. Mr. Turnbull was appointed to serve on the Florida AAU review committee,the board will serve as a review committee for all athletes competing in all of Florida's 34 AAU sports. | |

Thank you for your support at the 2008 Florida Tae Kwon Do
qualifier this past weekend. Competition was fierce as several new
schools were in attendance and needed to qualify for nationals.
The level of competition was that of a National Tae Kwon Do event.
Over 45 officials from TN, GA and Florida stayed for the entire
event, Thank you for your hard work. We had over 100 coach's
participating .The Coaches had really been on their game, several
matches were close and it was the coaching that won the match. The
back bone of the event were the volunteers who set up, ran and
broke down the event, we couldn't do it without you THANKS!
Update: Earlier in the day an adult athlete was injured and had to go for evaluation to the hospital, He later returned to the event to thank all that helped him, He had no permanent injuries and plans to compete at nationals !! |

| 2008 Rule Changes | |
The following rule changes will take effect for all AAU Tae Kwon
Do Competitions conducted during the 2008 competition season which
runs from September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2008. The 2008 AAU
Tae Kwon Do Rule Book will be available online September 15, 2007.

region 4 director. He is still in charge of Florida AAU Tae Kwon
Do and will be helping with the Florida Gold Coast district.
